$33,000 donated to PointSAR

To commemorate the rescue organization’s 10th anniversary, the Judith and Norman Alix Foundation donated more than $33,000 to upgrade all of the electronics on PointSAR’s Zodiac rescue boat. The donation also supplied the boat with a new lighting system to assist PointSAR when the sun goes down.

  • What is PointSAR?

    PointSAR Marine Rescue is tasked by JRCC Trenton (Central & Arctic Canada) and is a member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (unit 512). We are the marine response team for emergencies in Lower Lake Huron and the Upper St Clair River. Our crew is trained for all types of marine rescue calls and we deploy in every type of weather. We operate 24/7 during the boating season by volunteers.

  • Is your crew paid?

    We are all volunteers! Our members come from many different backgrounds from within our local community. We have crew members that work as local business owners, emergency services personnel, electricians, mechanics and local, provincial and federal governments with the common goal of saving lives on the water!

  • What kind of boat do you use?

    PointSAR is a 733 Hurricane class Zodiac RHIB, fully equipped with the latest technology for Navigation during Search and Rescue operations. Step onboard our boat with our 360° Virtual Tour.

  • What area do you cover?

    We are the marine response team for emergencies in Lower Lake Huron and the Upper St Clair River.
