Join our Marine Search and Rescue Crew

PointSAR Marine Rescue is tasked by JRCC Trenton (Central & Arctic Canada) and is a member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (unit 512). We are the marine response team for emergencies in Lower Lake Huron and the Upper St Clair River. Our crew is trained for all types of marine rescue calls and we deploy in every type of weather. We operate 24/7 during the boating season by volunteers and joining us requires a significant time commitment and dedication from you.

Our members come from many different backgrounds from within our local community. We have crew members that work as local business owners, emergency services personnel, electricians, mechanics and local, provincial and federal governments with the common goal of saving lives on the water!

If you are interested in volunteering with the crew of PointSAR Marine Rescue you must give serious consideration to your ability to attend and participate on a regular basis, to both weekly training and emergencies. Crew members must be a Canadian Citizen, at least 19 years of age, have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card, at least Standard First Aid with Level 'C' CPR and have no criminal record. During the boating season our crew is on call 24/7. During the summer season and off-seasons we meet weekly for in Sarnia for both on-land and on-water training and we offer a challenging and very rewarding opportunity to help others in their time of need.

Our mission is to provide a permanent day and night search and rescue service to cover marine requirements in Canada and prevent the loss of life and injury.

To fulfill this mission, our objectives are to :
• Save 100% of lives at risk;
• Reduce the number and severity of SAR incidents;
• Promote marine safety;
• Support the Canadian Coast Guard;
• Provide a humanitarian service;
• Maintain the highest professional standards;
• Promote dedication and pride of membership.
The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Central & Arctic Region, CCGA (C&A), was incorporated in September 1978 under the sponsorship of the Federal Government, for the purpose of providing organized voluntary maritime search and rescue (SAR), and the promotion of safety afloat; in an Auxiliary support role to the Canadian Coast Guard. Over the past 40 years, the CCGA has evolved into an effective non-profit organization that saves lives nationwide.
